Re-vamping Valentino

So I told you in my previous post that I had managed to find this vintage Valentino blazer in a charity shop for under a tenner and here it is.
It’s absolutely massive and it’s shoulders are so big I look like Frankenstein which leads me to this revamp but I love it and I’m going to wear it as a coat rather than a blazer so it doesn't matter.
I haven’t revamped anything in ages and I’m feeling so un-creative lately so thought whilst I was back at mums and had my sewing machine to hand I thought I may as well.

The finished garment is pretty similar, the shoulders are just less structured.

If I had the balls i'd totally unpick the whole garment just to have a look at the insides. It sounds super weird but after making a bespoke jacket last year at uni it would be SO interesting to see how other designers tailor their jackets.

This is my bespoke tailored jacket that put me through HELL in second year!

This is a proper random post but heyho

Vintage Spikes

Having no internet now i've moved in with my dad is KILLING me, I have to use my phone for everything because my iPad has run out of internet too. WAHHH. But i'm going to get it sorted this week!

The vintage treasures keep cropping up from my Nan and the other day she gave me this cute black/navy and white jacket, which reminded me of a similar pink one they've been selling in Zara, but the vintageness makes this one much better. I thought i'd add a bit of grunge to it to make it a bit more...me?

Before

You'll need

Measure one side of the collar and distribute the spike evenly (measurement is up to you)
Here I used an inch between each spike and placed a pin where the middle of the spike will be placed.

The actual pushing the spikes through was pretty difficult to get a photo of (maybe I should have done a video) but anyway this is how to;

-Make a small round hole with small pair of sharp scissors
-Because of the texture of the jacket follow the scissor blade through with the spike screw so the position is kept
-Make sure the screw is places from inside to out then twist the spike on top (it's pretty easy to tighten but if not use a screw driver to secure the screw)

 ANDDDD VWALAAAAAAAAAA

Not amazingly exciting I know but I LOVE it! Yet to wear it but I can't wait.

Raiding Nan's wardrobe

Hiiii,
My nan's downsizing soon which only means one thing. A massive clear out and give Katie all her cute unwanted vintage clothes!! EEK.
I haven't bought anything vintage in SO long, I've been a lot more into high street recently but I love to mix the two and these gems will work perfect with my recent high street buys.

The lace jacket would probably be much better off without the enormous pearl buttons, and would be a cute cover up. The pink maxi blouse will be worn open and belted up over black leggings and a tank.
These blouses match a pair of trousers my Nan gave me a little while ago, If I were to wear them together as one outfit i'd probably pair with a black top and have the blouse open as a jacket.

So happy I found this skirt, I tried a similar one on in Camden and it didn't fit :( but these colours are much more versatile through the transition from summer to Autumn. These velvet trousers don't fit me so i'll probably make them into shorts and give them to a pal, or sell them, not sure yet but thought i'd grab them!

HOW AMAZING IS THIS COAT?!?!
Admittedly I tried on for a bit of a laugh at first then I fell in love! It's super long and massive and cosy and warm with faux fur collar. It's going to be perfect for commuting into London every day this winter and even more perfect when i'm back up north next year.

I'm gutted I didn't find this baby yellow blazer in time for the spring/summer pastel trend but this definitely won't stop me wearing it this autumn as it fits into the nautical/military trend with a bit of a twist.

Vintage Gucci.
No other words are needed.

I also popped to Tesco and randomly found the shade of lipstick I've been looking for FOREVER. In TESCO. Of course it's crap and I have to re apply every two minutes but I love the colour too much to care!

Has anyone found any cute vintage pieces recently or raided their Nan's/gran's/grandma's wardrobe?

Overdue HAUL

Heyyy,

Just quickly a little snap of my outfit to work on Friday, I thought it was cute and clashing.
Tarten, black and white polka dot and velvet crushed leggings with my trusty creepers.

just thought i'd share with you a few things i've purchased over the last
few months.

(Clockwise) Leopard print belt, leopard print earrings, studded clutch and ring- Primark. Gold pony tail accessory and gold body chain- Topshop
Floral bodycon midi dress- River Island Sale

Thick cosy jumper- Primark

I got this denim shirt from a car boot a few weeks ago, I did one with my friend and spotted it on the stall opposite.I've FINALLY purchased a black leather look skirt!! YAY I got this one in River Island for £16 as I had a 20% off student discount voucher. Thanks Company magazine xx
I was also in DYER need of some beauty bits and piecesso picked up these from Boots, I love the smell of this hairspray and as it was 3 for 2 on hair products I thought i'd give the plump it up spray a go, (I also bought some hair dye) The brushes are just temporary until i'm able to afford some really decent ones. The foundation is my favourite for every day wear as its light, a great colour and covers well. I havent used this stay matte power in years but noticed I have gotten pretty shiny so thought i'd start again. Maybelline products were 2 for £10 so I decided to stock up on mascara and thought i'd try their smokey eye pencil too.

Last but NOT least, my favourite purchase probably of the year.
HOW AMAZING! I'm in love with it! River Island has some amazing pieces this season.
This was around £67 with my discount voucher from Company.
IN LOVE

xx
